Chiropractic care focuses on the intimate relationship between the nervous system and the spine. It is a natural form of health care which uses spinal manipulation to correct misalignment and restore proper function to the nervous system, helping the body heal naturally.
Spinal manipulation can be delivered using different techniques, and what technique is used depends upon what is right for a specific patient. Manual adjustments, using the chiropractor’s body weight, are the typical adjustments we think of with chiropractic treatment. This can be considered a more aggressive form of manipulation; however, the amount of force and speed is adjusted and controlled to deliver the right force at the right time and is completely safe. For those patients who have weaker bones, low bone density or osteoporosis, an instrument can be used to deliver the same adjustment to the spine with less, yet more specific force.
We also utilize soft tissue manipulation during our chiropractic care; taking the time to work on muscles and tendons strained from injury, stress, or repetitive activities. Soft tissue manipulation decreases inflammation caused by built up scar tissue, which in turn decreases chronic pain. Overall, we are looking for the root cause of any pain or condition, and we take our time to find the appropriate avenue to get your body back to a state of ideal functionality.
When appropriate, stretches and exercises will be prescribed to get your body moving again!
